We have successfully made the update to WordPress 3.0. There are 1,217 new features and bug fixes (as well as a slightly lighter admin theme). So many great new tweaks that will help you continue to have an enjoyable experience with WordPress. Watch the video below for all the details.

We recently updated and upgraded the spam blocking software that we use here at Insights for Church. If you notice any unusual activity on your account please report it in the comments section for this post.
Our hope in this update and upgrade is to keep the number of spam comments to a minimum as well as to reduce the number of spam blogs that are created on the site (that means your content will show more prominently on our home page).
We are hard at work to make sure that any updates that come out for WordPress are kept up to date here at InsightsForChurch. Over this last week there were a number of them. Currently we are up to version 2.8.4a.
Also the end of last week there was an outage with Twitter and Facebook being taken offline. This would have rendered the plugin twitme from posting anything to this service. As of writing this it seems that the service is back online and accepting requests from 3rd party applications like twitme. Thanks for your understanding.
We have updated to word press version 2.7 and it is quite the update. Brand new user interface when you are writing posts, plus we went ahead and updated all the plug ins to their latest versions.

This week we will be undergoing some scheduled maintenance and upgrades before the end of the week. After these are complete there will be some new features for our users.

Nineteen05 posted a great blog entry on how to connect your blog to a twitter and facebook account. The whole point is to get more mileage out of the time you spend blogging (aka more readers) by delivering access to your content where they already are. Make sure you check it out!

We’ve added a brand new site bar that will allow visitors to jump around from blog to blog, and a direct link allowing them to create their own blog. This bar will appear on every site as a way of unifying all of the blogs on the Insights For Church network.
For users who are logged in they will see quick links to pages allowing them to create new posts, and manage the different aspects of their personal blog. We hope you enjoy this additional feature and we look forward to adding more for you in the future.
This last weekend we experienced around 10 hours of down time as we were making some changes to our server. Thank you for your patience as we resolved some issues, everything is back online and working. Thankfully we didn’t loose any data for your blogs and were able to restore them to their state as of Saturday night. Back to the blogging!
